Instagram keeps a detailed list of everything it thinks you’re interested in — here’s how to find it

We go about on Instagram for hours and hours every day, without keeping track of time. We also put tons of ‘likes’ on posts that we think are deserving. It is almost impossible to keep track of your likes this way. When you scroll down your Instagram feed, you might have noticed that there are plenty of things which are relatable to what you had ‘liked’ in the past few days. This is because this social media application is keeping a track of all of your interests and likes.

Additionally, there is a detailed list of topics which the Instagram think might interest you. This list is in fact, within your own Instagram application. As an Instagram Follower you might as well be able to view the list for yourself. Since social media is a daily part of our lives, we go through a lot of content which we cannot keep track of. With that being said, you might actually be surprised by what the application feature has to show you.

These lists of interests that Instagram manages to track down are obviously generated by some sort of technique. We have looked deeper into it and have found that these are associated with advertisements and its linked data. A user’s advertisement interest depend on the people and accounts we follow, the posts that we put our likes on and leave comments on. This is not just it, it also takes the help of other applications and websites that we most currently use along with the Instagram ones. For example, the data about the likes, comments, shares which you utilize on Facebook are also taken up by the Instagram.

Are you interested to see what your Instagram list of interests has to say about you? Well we have just the right guide to take you there. Here is how you may be able to find your own hidden lists of interests that Instagram has been collecting, these will not be visible to any of your Instagram followers but only you.

  1. Open your Instagram home page. On the bottom row, click of the ‘profile’ option to view your own profile.
  2. Now on the top right corner of your Instagram profile, press upon that ‘three lined’ icon.
  3. Go to the bottom and press upon the ‘settings’ option.
  4. The previous step will lead you to a list of settings options from which you need to choose ‘security’.
  5. From this, from the ‘Data and History’ section, choose ‘Access Data’.
  6. In this step, you will need to scroll down till the ‘Ads Interest’ shows up, choosing this will lead you to topics that it has found you to be interested in, enlisted by the Instagram.

Once you go through the list, most of the topics you find there might not seem relatable at all. It might be due to some confusion that this algorithm of Instagram mistook your interests for. However, it still might be intriguing to see what Instagram thinks you are interested in.
